Kittens!!!!

We had some special visitors today just before lunch. Sophie's cat had kittens a little while ago and her mum, Ange, kindly brought them in for us to have a cuddle with. Check out the photos Mrs S took while we all ohhh'd, ahhhh'd and cuddled!

Thanks so much Sophie, we loved having them visit. I think a few of us would have like to take them home.

Painting

Today we are painting our portrait for our portfolios. We are using all the skills we have been learning this term. Sketching and drawing faces, mixing paint, using paintbrushes and shading a primary colour to light or dark. They are looking pretty great.

Book Week Buddy Reading

Today we headed over to Matai to share our Book Week work. We were excited to share a picture book and our hard work. Our buddies showed us their lights, camera, action books and read to us. Here are some photos Mrs S took of us all sharing.

Sports Day

What a great day we all had. The sun came out after the unexpected rain and it was wonderful to see so many smiles on faces. The children tried their hardest with a number being proud of their personal 'bests'. Here are some photos of the day.

Skipping is Fun!

Yesterday Yaldhurst Model School spent the afternoon skipping its heart out for Jump Rope for Heart. The whole school was split into 9 groups and travelled around 9 different jumping stations. Thankfully for the teachers (and some students) two of the stations were rest stations. It was fabulous seeing everyone with big smiles on their faces and skipping along to some fun music. Here are some pictures from the day.

Home Learning is happening.

Since the home learning sheet went home early in the term a number of our students have been very busy making, baking, creating, writing, exercising and giving. Here are some photos of the work that Kauri have been creating.

Natalia has done some amazing baking that her family said was delicious.

Josh baked some bread for his family.

Cassidy spent lots of time and energy making Mount Everest. Check out the tiny supplies he would have taken with him.

Sophie baked muffins for the class & teachers and then brought in this amazing cake with everyones initials on it. We all thought it was yum!

Natalia created a model of Mount Everest, showing the track that Hillary took. She also included all the items that he would have needed on his exhibition.

Natalia also took a donation into the SPCA. Check out the photos her parents took.

And finally Adam created this wonderful soap carving to represent his cultural heritage.
