What a great day we had on Thursday inspite of the rain.
Our new class mate Holly arrived and was greeted with a lot of enthusiastic students who were excited to meet her. Welcome Holly, we hope you enjoy being part of Kauri.
We were all set for a visit to Yaldhurst Wool in the afternoon as part of our Wool Process: Fleece to Fibre topic, but unfortunately we couldn't go as too many people didn't have their jackets. :( Instead we had half an hour practicing Ukulele with Rimu. All our practicing is coming to fruition as our Bruno Mars song is sounding fantastic.
After Ukulele we headed over to Matai for Buddy Class. We tried to start with our new buddy class song but unfortunately technology let us down but you can check it out here:
Matia have been reading Barney Malones Balloon so they were starting to make their own paper mache balloons and Kauri was there to get them started.
Check out the photos of us helping. It was a lot of very messy fun!

Tuesday 18 June - Freestyle Ball Champion
At 9.05am the whole school headed to the library to watch the New Zealand Freestyle Ball Champion Ollie Bowman. Ollie talked to the school for 10 minutes about how he became the NZ Champion (many hours of practise) and what he has done with the skill (joined the circus and free shoes from Adidas).
The students were given the opportunity to ask questions. Ollie asked if we would like to see a demonstration to which the school let out a very loud YES! Check out some photos of what Ollie showed us, it was pretty incredible.

Remembering Matua Miles
In Term 1 we had the pleasure of having Matua Miles visit our classroom. He spent the whole day in our classroom sharing stories, teaching us the Maori Alphabet, teaching us a haka and showing us how to create art that represents our families. It as a lot of fun and here are photos from the day.

Tuesday 11 June
We have been busy becoming poets in Kauri and today Mrs S gave us a range of different nouns and adjectives to create interesting and descriptive lines. We had a lot of fun coming up with lines like:
'Silver stick drops'
'Mighty terrible carrot'
Here are some photos of us working in our pairs creating our lines. They are displayed in the classroom so feel free to come in and have a look.
